# Suggestions as the customer types curl -H "X-API-Key: nzak_live_…" \ "https://addressfinder.straker.co.nz/api/address/suggestions?q=12+wainui" [ { "id": "2146877", "address": "12 Wainui Road, Judea, Tauranga" } ] # Then the full record for the one they picked curl -H "X-API-Key: nzak_live_…" \ "https://addressfinder.straker.co.nz/api/address/metadata?id=2146877" { "address": "12 Wainui Road, Judea, Tauranga", "suburb": "Judea", "city": "Tauranga", "region": "Tauranga City", "latitude": -37.70, "longitude": 176.15 }
Built for checkout forms
Address entry is where orders get abandoned and deliveries go missing. This is the smallest thing that fixes both.
Fast enough for keystrokes
A prefix hit returns in about 0.1 ms. Autocomplete fires on every character typed, so anything slower shows up as lag in your form.
Authoritative source
Straight from the LINZ NZ Addresses layer — the same register the street signs come from — not a scrape or a crowd-sourced list.
Coordinates included
Every address carries a latitude and longitude, so routing, delivery zones and mapping work without a second geocoding bill.
Two endpoints, no SDK
Suggestions and metadata. Plain JSON over HTTPS with a header key — nothing to install, nothing to keep up to date.
Usage you can see
Every request is metered per key. Your dashboard shows the month to date and the last 30 days, so a runaway integration is obvious.
Hosted in New Zealand
NZ data on NZ infrastructure, invoiced in NZ dollars with GST, by a New Zealand company you can ring.
One price, no surprises
50,000 lookups a month. GST included. Cancel by not renewing.

What is a New Zealand street address API?
It is a web service your application calls to turn what someone is typing into a real, verified New Zealand street address. Three jobs, usually all at once: address autocomplete so a customer picks from a list instead of typing the whole thing, address validation so what you store is an address that genuinely exists, and geocoding so you get the latitude and longitude for delivery, routing or mapping.
The addresses here come from the LINZ NZ Addresses layer — New Zealand's official national address register, the same source local councils and emergency services work from. Every record carries its street address, suburb or locality, town or city, territorial authority and coordinates.
Who uses it
Checkout and delivery forms, courier and logistics software, CRM and onboarding flows, insurance and lending applications, property and valuation tools, government and council services — anywhere a wrong address costs a delivery, a customer or a compliance obligation.
Switching from another provider
The response shape matches the AddressFinder-style suggestion and metadata pair field for field, so a consumer already written against that shape moves across by changing one base URL and one header. There is no SDK to swap out and no data migration — see the API documentation for the exact fields.
What it costs
NZ$59 a month, or NZ$490 for twelve months — GST included, invoiced in New Zealand dollars by a New Zealand company. Both include 50,000 lookups a month, which is far more than a typical checkout form uses. Full pricing.
